British Colonial Interiors

British Colonial design is a blend of British style intertwined with designs & materials from tropical countries like the Caribbean, Africa, India & Asia. It is reflective of a globe trotting lifestyle with collections from tropical locations, layered with textures, natural tones & materials and styled wih interesting objects to inspire travel stories.

Halcyon House

Rich Brown to Black tones. Flooring is often a dark teak or mahogany mixed with mid brown to black timber toned furniture, often with a bamboo style moulding.

Contrasting White. The rich tones of the floor & furniture contrast starkly against crisp white walls, sheer curtains & plantation shutters, joinery & linen.

Natural Materials & Textures. Think jute rugs, animal hides, rattan, cane bamboo or wicker furniture, linen soft furnishings, rattan blinds & woven baskets.

Neutral Palette. Characterised by various shades of neutral tones in fabrics & accessories against white backgrounds & contrasting against dark timbers.

Nature Inspired Colour. Introduce browns, blues & greens in hand block printed cushions, artwork, plants & decorative elements.

Mismatched Collectables. Style a mix of old & new for a travel inspired look using elements such as coral & shells, vintage books, magnifying glasses, photo frames, metal candlesticks, vintage tophies & glass votives.
